Bat Mitzvah (בַּת מִצְוָה‬) is Hebrew for “daughter of commandment.” A girl becomes a bat mitzvah at the age of 12 according to Orthodox and Conservative Jews, and at the age of 13 according to Reform Jews. Upon becoming a bat mitzvah she has all the rights and obligations of a Jewish adult, including performing the Jewish mitzvot (commandments) of the Torah.
